What You Need to Know

This area will be dedicated to the key ideas from the page to help you best make sense of the benefits. If there is a minor difference in the medical plans, it’s best to call it out here so employees know exactly what they are looking for.

Make the most of your dental benefits

Cigna

Regular dental checkups can do more than keep your smile attractive—they can also tell dentists a lot about your overall health, including whether or not you may be at risk for chronic diseases.

Cigna Dental DHMO

Similar to a medical HMO plan, you must select a primary care dentist in the Cigna Dental network to provide your care. If specialty care is needed, your general dentist must provide the necessary referral. With this plan there are no deductibles, no annual maximums and no charges for most preventive services. For all other services, you pay fixed copays depending on the procedure. Discuss your treatment plan with your primary care dentist to determine how much your copay will be.

Cigna Dental DPPO

The DPPO plan gives you the freedom to seek care from the provider of your choice. However, you will maximize your benefits and reduce your out-of-pocket costs if you choose an in-network provider who participates in the Cigna Dental network. These providers have agreed to charge members discounted fees instead of their typical fees. Should you decide to go outside the network, you will receive a lesser benefit and may be responsible for fees the provider charges that exceed the usual, customary and reasonable (U&C) charges used by Cigna Dental.
